Why Meghan Markle's blog, The Tig, was deleted and is it coming back?
Meghan Markle is reportedly set to relaunch her old lifestyle blog
Meghan Markle is rumored to be relaunching her old lifestyle blog, nearly five years after it was deleted.
- Meghan Markle could be about to relaunch her old blog, The Tig, five years after it was shut down.
- The Duchess of Sussex ran the lifestyle website from 2014 to 2017, at the height of her Suits fame.

Meghan Markle could be resurrecting her old blog, nearly five years after she shut down the digital 'passion project'.
The Duchess of Sussex created The Tig in 2014 when she was working in Canada on the hit show, Suits, in the hope of sharing an insight into her personal life with her adoring fans.
The lifestyle website was packed with detailed entries on everything from Meghan Markle's diet to her New Year's resolutions, as well as fun fashion tips and simple advice on working out. Named after the Duchess' favorite wine, Tignanello, it also featured musings on her childhood, her early career struggles, and her thoughts on feminism.

Despite clearly being an important hobby to Meghan (the Tig had tons of material), the popular blog was only active for about three years. The Hollywood actress published a goodbye note on the site in 2017, shortly before announcing her engagement to Prince Harry.
"What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy," she wrote in the farewell post. "Above all, don’t ever forget your worth—as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough."
The Tig was then deleted altogether, leaving its loyal followers with nothing but archived content to get their Meghan fix.

While some of the Duchess' posts are still available to view online, the 40-year-old has not spoken about the blog once since she married Prince Harry in May 2018. She has since mostly addressed the public through the couple's Archewell website, which launched nine months after they announced their withdrawal from the Royal Family and emigrated to the US.
Recent reports that Meghan’s lawyers are seeking to trademark "The Tig", however, have reignited hopes that the Duchess will be restoring her well-loved blog.
Los Angeles attorney Majorie Witter Norman filed an application to safeguard the name for her royal client in July 2021, according to legal records. The news comes shortly after it was revealed that Duchess Camilla will take over Meghan's patron role at the National Theatre in London.
Why did Meghan Markle delete her blog, The Tig?
Meghan reportedly deleted her old blog, The Tig, to minimize the level of media scrutiny ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
With the American actor quickly becoming a hot topic in the British and US tabloids, a self-written blog was likely to only exacerbate attention from the press. According to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand's biography on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan feared that The Tig would only be exploited by the media for speculative articles.
“It wasn’t so much that her blog was criticized as it was used to fuel false speculation about her personal life with the prince,” they wrote in Finding Freedom. “If she and Harry weren’t seen in three days, someone at a gossip blog would pull up her recipe for acai bowls and write a story that that was what she was serving her new man. Or her post about the benefits of green juice: Was this the diet she was making Harry follow?”
