Princess Anne will miss her mother's first Christmas since Prince Philip died after her husband tested positive for Covid-19.
The second eldest of the Queen's children was expected to attend the Royal Family's scaled-back celebrations at Windsor Castle this weekend but is now self-isolating as a precaution.
The disappointing news comes just shortly after Her Majesty canceled Christmas at Sandringham House in light of the recent surge in the Omicron variant.
Who is Princess Anne married to?
Princess Anne has been married to Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence for nearly twenty years. The couple first met in 1986, when the Princess Royal was still married to her now ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips. She separated from Phillips in 1986 and divorced him in 1989, tying the knot with Timothy three years later in 1992. The retired navy officer, now 66, keeps busy with charity work, non-executive roles and hobbies such as tennis and golf.
Where does Princess Anne live?
Princess Anne lives on the Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire with her husband Timothy, and her daughter and son-in-law, Zara and Mike Tindall.
Will Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, also have to self-isolate?
With the mother and daughter duo sharing the same residence, some might wonder if Zara Tindall should also self-isolate. health officials have been warning the public of the high risk of contracting Covid if a member of your household is infected since the pandemic began, and with the Omicron variant believed to be significantly more contagious than previous strains, it would only make sense to take precaution.

However, this risk might not apply to Zara and her husband, Mike. Gatcombe Park is a whopping 700 acres in size and boasts multiple houses—meaning it's quite likely that the royal couple hasn't even come into contact with Timothy since he caught the virus.
