The husband of Princess Anne has spoken out about one of the things that “surprised” him the most when he joined the Royal Family back in 1992.
Appearing in a new ITV documentary that has been made in honour of his wife to mark her 70th birthday next month, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence spoke about his experiences with the Royal Family and even mentioned his mother-in-law, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking in ITV’s Anne: The Princess Royal at 70, which takes a look at the personal life of Princess Anne, Sir Timothy remarked on the similarities between the Princess Royal and her mother, revealing that the two share “humour” and “fun”.
Sir Timothy revealed that he “surprised” at the amount of laughter he noticed in the Queen’s family, saying, “One of the great surprises for me, when I first went to Balmoral and to Sandringham and Windsor was that these places are full of laughter.
“The similarities with Princess Anne’s father are much talked about, but what is less spoken about is the similarities with her mother, the Queen,” he continued, adding, “The common theme is humour, fun”.
Princess Anne and Sir Timothy tied the knot back in 1992, with the match being the second marriage for the princess.
