More details of Princess Beatrice’s secret Windsor wedding revealed

Princess Beatrice is thought to have worn her original wedding dress for the secret ceremony and used her grandmother’s favourite florist.

Princess Beatrice of York shocked the nation when it was revealed she and fiancé Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi had tied the knot in a secret Windsor ceremony on Friday.

And now further details of her special day have emerged.

While the exact details of Beatrice’s wedding dress have not yet been revealed, the Daily Mail reports that the 31-year-old wore the “original gown” she had planned to wear for her postponed wedding at St. James Chapel.

And fashion expert Melita Latham, anticipates it will have been “lacy” and “rich in detail” – given Beatrice’s personal sense of style.

She told the Express, “I would expect her bridal outfit to be veiled, ball-gown, quite lacy style.

"We should expect a lustrous fabric, dress, rich in detail with possibly rather more colour than you would expect at a royal wedding.”

Royal fans were delighted to find out that one of Beatrice’s first wedding gifts was from the Queen’s favourite florist.

Martyn Crossley – who has worked with the royal family for a number of years – gave fans a glimpse of the bouquet he prepared for the wedding.

Alongside a snap of the gorgeous arrangement, he wrote, “Flowers for Royal bride Princess Beatrice of York after her marriage to Mr Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi this morning in Windsor Great Park.”

He later confirmed that the flowers were a “gift” for the newly married couple.

Martin explained, "These were a wedding gift to the bride after the ceremony.”

The royal was due to get married in May, but her plans had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She tied the knot at an intimate ceremony in Windsor, it’s been confirmed by Buckingham Palace – on the same day as Duchess Camilla’s birthday.

The official announcement read, ‘The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17 July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. The small ceremony was attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant government guidelines.’

The nuptial had to be scaled-down from the original plans to around 20 guests due to the pandemic. Guests are said to have included The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh – who have been self isolating at Windsor Castle – as well as Beatrice’s dad Prince Andrew.
