Jennifer Garner is excited to turn 50 and calls the age "empowering"
On the heels of her 50th birthday, Jennifer Garner reveals that she's actually very excited to celebrate the milestone
Just a month away from her 50th birthday, Jennifer Garner tells fans that she’s actually "excited" to celebrate and thinks that being 50-years-old will feel empowering.
The actor, who recently also opened up about the price of fame and how it has affected her family, discussed getting older during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week.
"I'm excited. I like it. Why not? I don't know why I'm surprised that I'm turning 50 but I do have the sense of 'What the heck, it's really here?'," she said on the show. "I don't know. I like the idea that all of a sudden I'm allowing myself to believe that I know what I know. It's empowering."
The actor, who currently stars on the Netflix sci-fi film The Adam Project alongside Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo, also recently took to Instagram to share her feelings about life in general. She posted two black-and-white photos of herself dancing on the beach alongside a caption that reads, "Something I tell myself: Take it easy. Every day is an opportunity to re-evaluate and shift habits, to connect, to mend, to look for flow. It'll be okay."
Speaking of Instagram: although Jennifer is very clearly embracing her age, she did re-enact an iconic scene from her 2004 rom-com 13 Going on 30 last year and posted the video to social media to the delight of all her followers. The actor might be turning 50 but she’s clearly even younger at heart.

Jennifer isn't the only star to openly speak about her age. Last month, Laverne Cox also discussed the topic while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, actually revealing that she used to lie about how old she was.
"I was 28 years old and I was dating a guy that was 21 and he broke up with me because he said I was too old," she said. "And I was like, 'Oh, if I'm too old, I'll just be 22'." She continued telling people she was 22-year-old until she non longer felt comfortable doing so—at which point she'd just go by "over 21."

At one point, said the now 49-year-old actor, IMDB figured out her real age and Laverne started discussing the topic with her therapist and was able to work through the issue.
"So I am proudly 49, about to turn 50 and I'm so excited and happy to be able to own that," said Laverne.
We’d like to wish both actors a very happy birthday!
