Everyone is talking about *that* classic Romy and Michele SAG Awards moment—did you see it?
Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino recreated their iconic Romy and Michele's High School Reunion looks to celebrate the movie's anniversary
Last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) will go down in history as one of the very first awards shows to return to a semblance of semi-normalcy following two long pandemic years.
But, in addition to the historical moment surrounding the show and the slew of much talked about nominees and winners, the night will likely also be remembered as the time that Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino took the stage in matching outfits reminiscent of their iconic roles on Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion in celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary.
The pair reunited to present the award for outstanding ensemble in a comedy series (fan-favorite Ted Lasso took the prize home!). Cindy Lauper's Time After Time, a song reminiscent of one of the most iconic scenes from the 1997 movie, played while the two walked on stage wearing matching suits: hot pink for Lisa, 58, and electric blue for Mira, 54—outfits similar to what their two characters wore during the movie's actual high school reunion.

The actors stayed in character throughout their award presentation. "You look cute!," Mira said smilingly.
"I know, thanks. So do you, of course. Do you think this is the cutest anyone's ever looked at an awards show?" Lisa responded jokingly.
Mira continued, "I just realized this. We're wearing great ensembles while at the same time presenting to great ensembles."
Lisa responded, "You are so right! These cast ensembles are so hilarious and you knew that ensemble had two meanings. You're a genius!"

The bit unsurprisingly drew a ton of laughs from the knowing audience—but not as many as the following moment, when, in another nod to one of the most epic plot points of the original movie, Mira took out a stack of Post-It notes, pretending that the list of nominees was written on them. In case you need a memory refresher: in the '90s film, the two characters tell their former classmates that they are actually the inventors of Post-Its.
If the mini-reunion has left you begging for more, you might be in luck. Although there are yet no plans to film a Romy and Michele's High School Reunion reboot, Mira herself has expressed interest in being part of one. "I would be so grateful they would decide to do it," she said a couple of years ago during The Creative Coalition's sixth annual Television Humanitarian Awards. "I know that Lisa and that [screenwriter] Robin Schiff is interested in it. Maybe Alan [Cumming] is interested in it. I don't know. I heard that maybe Janeane [Garofalo] is interested in it. I love Lisa and I would do anything just to work with her again in any capacity."
Universe, please consider this our plea for a reboot or a reunion to actually happen.
