Curious about the best summer vacations in the US? Here's what they have in common this year
Plus, here's how to win an all-expenses-paid trip
Travel plans might still be off kilter, but the best summer vacations in the US have one major factor in common in 2021. (No, they have nothing to do with tropical getaways.)
In a new study, Travelocity has uncovered that nearly 3/4 of participants who haven't traveled since the start of the pandemic miss socializing with family the most. Being away from relatives has been incredibly difficult, but with easing regulations and a robust vaccination schedule, people are hopeful they'll be able to reunite with their brood in a somewhat normal setting as the warm-weather months swoop in.
“If we’ve learned anything from this past year, it’s that families are incredibly tough and resilient," said Katie Junod, Travelocity's general manager. "It’s very clear that Americans are aching to meet with their loved ones again, so we’re very focused on making sure this happens safely and smoothly."

The findings further indicate that 69% of people intend to travel within the next nine months and 60% will be doing so by car. To make a post-pandemic family reunion possible, Travelocity and Thrifty Car Rental are looking to shell out two all-expenses-paid vacations (up to $25,000) for two families thanks to the Road Trip of a Lifetime contest.
Is your interest piqued? Get in on the deal by submitting a short essay on why you want to take your crew on the road trip of a lifetime. Until May 31, 2021, at 11:59 pm EST, families are invited to enter the contest that will put them in the running towards the grand prize (which will allow up to nine people to participate). To enter and learn more about the regulations, you can visit the Travelocity website.
