Method
Beat together the eggs, mixed spice and cream. Trim the crusts from the bread, if you like, and cut into triangles. Dip the bread in the egg mixture.
Melt half the butter in a frying pan until foaming. Add half the bread and cook until golden on both sides. Remove the bread from the pan and wipe the pan clean with kitchen paper.
Sprinkle a generous amount of caster sugar on a plate and dip in the hot bread. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread. At night, try them with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
