Baked Camembert is such a fab dinner party starter that’s perfect for sharing! Get your guests stuck in and serve it up with toasted sourdough bread for a mini-fondue that’s super easy to make.
When you’ve got the main course and dessert to prepare for a dinner party, you don’t want to be stuck on the starter for ages, or have to tear yourself away from your guests once they arrive. This is the perfect solution, as you simply need to pop it in the oven for 20 minutes where it can happily bubble away until it’s ready to dish up.
Not only is it really simple and delicious, it also brings people together as there is definitely a sharing element to it. The pears add a nice sweetness to the cheese too, which is great for balance. Cheese usually goes well with fruits like pears and grapes, and this baked Camembert is no exception. The next time you’re planning a dinner party, make sure you consider this lovely starter.
How to make Baked Camembert:
Method
Preheat the oven to 180C, 160C fan, gas 4. Remove the Camembert cheese from its box, take off the paper and place it back in the box. Make a few holes in the top, pour on a splash of white wine and scatter over a few thyme sprigs.
Put the top on the box, wrap with foil and bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
When the top is golden and the inside is melted, serve with ripe sliced pears and toasted sourdough.
Ingredients
- 1 Camembert cheese in a box
- Splash white wine
- Few thyme sprigs
- 2 pears, sliced
- Sourdough bread, sliced and toasted
