I've found the best bells and baubles for your Christmas tree this year - some of the best are actually the cheapest
Deck the halls in some serious style this year
Buying the best Christmas tree decorations to spruce up your space for the season is always exciting. It’s a shopping haul like no other, full of festivity, magic, and all things glitter and sparkle.
Whether you've opted for the best artificial Christmas tree or one of the best real Christmas trees this year, no one can resist buying a new bauble. You might be shopping for an entirely new aesthetic, with baubles and bows galore, or perhaps you want to add to your current collection with a couple of trinkets. Either way, there are tons of decorations to choose from.
This is why decorating your home can get overwhelming, especially if you want to stay on-trend. So as well as putting together this list of the best Christmas decorations, we’ve spoken to some of the experts. You’ll find popular decor that won’t look out of place and plenty of timeless pieces to last you through to next year )including some inspired by Victoria Beckham's minimalist pieces, as well as style advice on what's trending now to inspire your 2024 Christmas tree decorating ideas.
The best Christmas tree decorations of 2024
Every year, it seems like there's a new Christmas tree trend. I've looked for Christmas tree decorations that you can use year-after-year to create a classic look to compliment any new styles that take socials by a storm.
Bauble sets
No tree is complete without a bauble set. It's always a good idea to stick with classic colours if you want these to be a base of your tree decoration (I look for red, green, silver, gold, or white). Then, when you want to add more colour and fun, you can pick up specific styles and designs.
RRP: £5.99 | Material: glass | Set size: 24
This classy assortment of shiny, matt, and clear mini baubles are perfect for creating a green colour scheme on your tree. The tops come capped, perfect for adding your own twine.
RRP: £7.50 | Material: mixed | Set size: 6
This set of fun, bright, baubles looks great on a tree, mantle, or door. The clean stripes are reminiscent of candy canes and Christmas fun. They're a firm favourite.
RRP: £20 | Material: glass | Set size: 20
I love this classy, glass collection for adding some chic depth to your tree. The matte, shiny, and sparky finishes come in a range of shapes, so you won't need any other decorations on your tree.
RRP: £28 | Material: papier-mâché | Set size: 5
This homely set is hand-painted and made from recycled paper. I love the charming character that each brings to your tree. The velvet ribbon and colours firmly establish these as heirlooms that will be treasured, year after year.
Glass Tree Decorations
Glass is something that I was always wary of (because of the obvious shattering issue), but these are all durably built, with well built hangers that will keep the baubles stable. They're perfect for adding some sparkle to your tree.
RRP: £6 | Material: Glass | Set size: 1
These baubles look as beautiful in person as they do on the website. Elegant and sparkly, they glisten on the tree. The only downside is that they are very fragile: not to be hung near furry friends.
Ceramic Tree Decorations
Ceramic seems to be everywhere this year and it's easy to see why. The tonal colours look great with bright or other simple decorations, bringing the 'chic' to your Christmas decor.

RRP: £5 | Material: ceramic | Set size: 1
Nobody believed me when I said that this was only £5 from M&S. It's classy, elegant, and delicately festive. I plan on buying a few to create my winter wonderland.
Felt decorations
If you've had a look at any of the supermarket decorations, you'll have seen felt animals and characters all over the shelves. They're an adorable, cosy addition to any tree (whether you have little ones or not).
RRP: £20 | Material: wool | Set size: 6
I can't resist a little snowman on my Christmas tree and this set of six is simply adorable. Hand crafted from Nepalese wool, these double-up as present toppers and napkin ties too.
Family-friendly animal decorations
As is the case with the felt decorations, these little characters will add some fun to your home. Hang them off the tree, or doorknobs. They're really versatile.
RRP: £12.95 | Material: buri palm| Set size: 1
This reindeer is a little more expensive than some of the other festive friends around, but he's worth it. You can see that Rudolph is a little bigger than some of the other decorations and he's expertly (and sustainably) crafted too.
Novelty Baubles
It's always fun to have some colour and texture on your tree, which is why I looked for some cheap and cheerful additions to your tree. These all stole a spot on my branches.
RRP: £3.50 | Material: wool | Set size: 1
Robins are a Christmas essential and this chubby decoration is one of my favourites. He became a character who moved around the house, flitting from the tree to the doorknob. All the family loved him.
Luxury Baubles
It's always worth investing in your tree decorations, because you can bring them out year after year. These are ones that cost a little more than your supermarket pieces, but they'll become heirlooms immediately.
RRP: £22 | Material: wood | Set size: 6
It's easy to tell that these have been lovingly carved from wood and hand painted too, because they feel like a personal, family favourite. I love the folky aesthetic, especially because they actually jingle too.
My favourite three
RRP: £7 | Material: wood | Set size: 1
I love the simplicity of this snowman: he's petite, delicately crafted, and wonderfully simple. The organic wood grain looks warm with lights and other colours.
The best Christmas decorations, according to the experts
What's trending for Christmas 2024?
With so many styles to choose from when it comes to kitting out your home in all things the holiday season, it can be difficult to decide what to go for. Unless you’re stuck in the Christmas tradition of red, green, and gold (which there’s nothing wrong with, mind), then it’s hard to keep up with new trends and aesthetics that come out every year. Think pink Christmas, candy cane overload, and oh, remember the black Christmas tree? Amongst this year's Christmas tree color trends, there are new decor styles to look out for:
Sam Hood, Chief Creative Office and co-founder of AMARA.com states “Pastel tones are a trend for this year with the soft palate which is calming and serene, pearl embellishments and accents of golden champagne for contrast and sparkle."
Jennifer Derry, interior design expert, and Chief Merchandising Officer at Balsam Hill, suggests the "Roaring Twenties is a big design trend for Christmas 2022. She states "Christmas is the perfect time to provide a much-needed dash of glitz and glamor to your home- and even more so with the return of Christmas parties in their full capacity! You'll see dramatic mixed metallics set against the opulence of beads and feathers, as well as crystal garlands that hark back to the headiness of the era.”
What is the most popular Christmas decoration?
Be it a wreath, garland, throw cushion, or even a doormat there are Christmas home decor buys galore. And while we’d love to buy it all, there are limits to how much we can fit in, without going full-grotto and having big budgets to work with. So aside from picking up a few new tree decorations, Sam Hood, Chief Creative Office and co-founder of AMARA.com says “Entertaining is going to be even more popular than ever and we are expecting our customers to be going all out when it comes to tablescaping this year!"
"Last year themed and novelty decorations were a big hit, and we expect that to be the case again, with decorations such as Father Christmas on an inflatable flamingo tipped to be a best seller.”
