On Monday 5th April, Boris Johnson announced that the UK is currently on track to meet the planned lift in restrictions that were outlined in the government’s roadmap on 22 February 2021.

Who can I meet up with from 12th April?
The restrictions remain the same as the changes on 29th March. The Rule of 6 or two households is still in place. This means that we can continue to meet with 5 other people outside or two households outside.
The regulations concerning meeting friends inside will remain the same. From the 17th May, two households or a group of 6 will be allowed to meet indoors.
Which businesses will be open from 12th April?
Various businesses will reopen following the change of restrictions on Monday 12th April 2021.

This includes, Libraries, Community Centres, Outdoor attractions, Gyms, indoor leisure centres, outdoor hospitality, indoor parent and child groups (of us to 15 parents), self-contained accommodation, and personal care facilities will be open.
Can I go to funerals and weddings from 12th April?
On 12th April, weddings, wakes, and receptions will increase to 15 guests, funerals will remain at 30 maximum.
Previously weddings and wakes were allowed but with a 6 guest maximum.
Will I need a COVID passport to go to the pub from 12th April?
The pubs will reopen on 12th April and people will not need to be vaccinated in order to go into the pub or other similar venues.
Boris Johnson said in an announcement on 5th April 2021, “There is no question of people being asked to produce certification when they go to the shops or pub garden or hairdressers on Monday 12th April.”
Can I travel from 12th April?
The government state that travelling abroad will continue to be prohibited apart from a small number of reasons that are permitted.
The government state that holidays abroad will continue to be banned as the UK is still trying to administer the vaccine across the UK and new variants of coronavirus could disrupt this. Travel restrictions will be reviewed on 17th May 2021.
Can I go on holiday from 12th April?
Holidays in the UK will now be allowed. Domestic overnight stays for a single household will now be permitted.
International holidays are still prohibited but will potentially be allowed from 17th May following a review by the government.
