An innocent trip to the park with her son took an unexpected turn for pop singer Shakira when the most unlikely "robbers" snatched her purse. The culprits? A "gang" of wild boars.

As the events unfolded, the singer took to Instagram to share on her story the shocking encounter. She explained that as she and her son, Milan, were walking along the park, the two were confronted by a pack of angry hogs. The boars ended up snatching her purse—which also contained her cell phone—and ran off with it.

The 44-year-old didn't let them get away that easy though. In her Instagram story, which has since disappeared as it only lasts for 24 hours, she proudly holds up a muddy bag that she claims she "wrestled" free from the boars.

“Look at how two wild boars which attacked me in the park have left my bag,” she  said, proudly displaying the dirty purse. “They were taking my bag to the woods with my phone inside. They’ve destroyed everything.”

Details including where the incident occurred and when she was confronted by the pack were left out of her story. Shakira did share with her fans though that she managed to retrieve her bag after standing up to the porky thieves.

“In the end they left the bag because I confronted them,” she told her followers.

She then turned to her 8-year-old son and also main witness of the event, and said, "Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar.”

It appears that Shakira and her son have not been injured by the wild boars, but similar incidents with wild boars in Barcelona are not uncommon. A 2019 article by the Guardian claims that in 2016, Barcelona police reported 1,187 phone calls about nuisance boars on the loose. The pigs are known for digging through trash, attacking dogs, and running into cars.

These pesky thieves may make you rethink that trip to Barcelona, and instead, makes plans at your number one staycation spot.
