The Queen may not live to see the publication of Prince Harry's memoir, according to a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex could delay the release of his first book to prevent Her Majesty from reading it, according to Sunday Times' Royal Editor Roya Nikkhah. The claim was made during a discussion of Tom Bower's new biography, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, on this week's episode of the Royal Beat.
Prince Harry first revealed he was writing a book in July 2021, confirming that the memoir would explore the "experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him" over the past four decades. He also promised to unpack the "highs and lows" as a member of the Royal Family, touching on everything from his extraordinary childhood to his military service in Afghanistan.
The book, which will be published by Penguin Random House, was initially expected to hit shelves in the autumn of 2022.
With just a few months to go until the release date though and still no updates on its status, royal experts have warned that the tell-all could be delayed indefinitely. It's been speculated that the 37-year-old may be concerned about the Queen's reaction to it, with reports even circulating that Prince Harry is keeping the Royal Family ‘at a distance’ until his memoir is out.
"When Prince Harry’s book finally appears is another interesting question, because we’re expecting it in late 2022, and yet we don’t seem to be seeing any sign of it... I personally question whether or not the things that Harry feels he wants to say, he will feel he wants to say during the Queen’s lifetime," Nikkhah said.

The delay of the Duke of Sussex's memoir could also give him an 'opportunity' to 'rebut' the allegations about him and his US wife in Bower's biography.
The British investigative journalist has made numerous shocking claims about the A-list couple's relationship with the Royal Family in Revenge, including that Prince Charles was 'irritated' by the duchess' refusal to reconcile with her father and that Meghan made Kate 'burst into tears' during a bridesmaid fitting for her 2018 wedding to Harry.
"The longer he delays it, the more he gets an opportunity to soak up the other things that are being written about him, and put his own version of events, his own truth. So, if it’s not already at the printers under top secret, he may well have read the Bower book and be able to come back and rebut certain stuff.”
