The Queen appears on the cover of Vogue for the first time in history—but fans are frustrated by missed 'perfect opportunity'
Fans are divided as the Queen appears on the cover of Vogue for the first time in history in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee
Fans have been left divided with the Queen's appearance on the cover of Vogue.
- British Vogue Magazine will feature Her Majesty the Queen on the April 2022 cover.
- It's the first time the Queen has covered the publication in celebration of her upcoming Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 year reign on the throne.

British Vogue has announced they will be featuring Her Majesty the Queen on the April cover in celebration of her upcoming Platinum jubilee.
The brand announced on social media, "British Vogue’s April issue pays tribute to the Queen with a special edition cover."
"As Her Majesty becomes the first British monarch in history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, the April issue explores Vogue's unique relationship with the royal, and features saw images from the archive at Vogue House. See the full story in the new issue, on newsstands Tuesday 29 March."
The photo used by Vogue is an image of Queen Elizabeth II in 1957 that was taken by her former brother-in-law, Princess Margaret's ex-husband, Antony Armstrong Jones.

While the image of the Queen is no doubt a gorgeous portrait of Her Majesty, some fans noted that the brand missed a 'perfect opportunity' to celebrate the Queen's long reign with a more recent photograph of the 95-year-old monarch.
"Why not exhibit her present day beauty? It would have been the perfect opportunity to showcase the longest serving monarch of our time but also she would technically be one of the oldest and iconic cover girls 😉," said one royal fan.

"HM present-day photo would have been more iconic." said another fan.
"Why not have a present day image?" added yet another.
Yet more concern continued as fans realized that instead of dedicating this issue solely to the Queen, the magazine plans to produce 'twin covers,' with another featuring Anya Taylor Joy dressed in royal inspired clothing including a crooked crown.

Fans were unimpressed and many commented that both the actress and Her Majesty deserved better than a shared cover release.
"I simply don’t get how the Anya Taylor Joy cover celebrates the Platinum Jubilee. The inclusion of a replica diadem is a tenuous connection that does nothing to honor the Queen’s historic reign and the diadem itself is obscured by the title. The Queen (& ATJ) both deserve better."
Although this magazine will mark the first time that the Queen features on the cover of Vogue, Her Majesty has appeared in the magazine on various occasions throughout her life. The upcoming feature from the magazine will look back at the Vogue archives and unearth the images of the Queen that they have featured in their magazine over the past decades.

In addition to the Vogue cover, released in April, the Queen's jubilee will be celebrated in June with a pudding competition, plus a Jubilee concert featuring a variety of A-list performers.
