The hidden meaning behind Countess Sophie's £105k engagement ring
Countess Sophie has one of the most extravagant engagement rings in the Royal Family - with a special link to Princess Diana

Countess Sophie's engagement ring is a stunning piece of jewelry and one of the most extravagant in the Royal Family - but did you know it also has a link to Princess Diana?
- There's a special meaning behind Sophie Wessex's engagement ring, thanks to its links to other royals.
- The ring was designed by British royal jeweler Garrard, the man behind Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson's engagement ring.
- In other royal news, Queen 'slapped' Royal Family member 'across the face' says Elton John, who witnessed the 'bizarre' moment.
Countess Sophie's beautiful and romantic engagement ring was designed by British royal jeweler Garrard, the man behind some of the Royal Family's most impressive pieces of jewelry. Gerrard also designed Princess Diana's iconic sapphire engagement ring and Sarah Ferguson's Burmese ruby.
It's unclear whether Prince Edward realized at the time the special royal links his chosen engagement ring had, but it's touching to know that there's a tradition associated with this stunning piece of jewelry.
The ring features a two-carat central oval diamond, with two heart-shaped diamonds either side and is reported to be worth around £105,000 ($149,000).
Countess Sophie is known for sporting beautiful jewelry to accessorize her perfectly-turned-out outfits. Sophie was recently spotted at Ascot wearing a stunning brooch, where comparisons were made to the Queen and her love of brooches.
While her engagement ring bears little resemblance to the late Princess Diana's, it does bear resemblance to Her Majesty's engagement ring.
The wedding of Prince Edward and (then-called) Sophie Rhys-Jones took place on 19 June 1999 in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and the wedding was a simple, intimate affair.
