Prince George's royal future has been set in stone since his birth, as the young royal is the eldest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. But reportedly, the young royal only recently found out about this daunting future.

Although Prince George is just eight years old, as one of the eldest of the Queen's great grandchildren, and the third person in the royal line of succession,  it is clear that one day this child will be King.

Although Prince George's destiny has been established since his birth, it has been revealed that instead of allowing their son to be daunted by the weight of this future, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge delayed telling their son that one day he would be King.

The Mirror reported that Royal biographer Robert Lacey revealed in his book 'Battle of Brothers,' that Prince George would have been told about his destiny recently in 2020 when he was seven.

The author said, "sometime around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince’s life of future royal 'service and duty' would particularly involve."

However, it was added by the author that the details of this sit-down chat with the Prince about his future, have not been confirmed by the Royal Family. "William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son," said the author who then added hopefully, "maybe one day George will tell us the story himself."

The author added that Duchess Catherine and Prince William had always wanted to sit with George at a 'controlled moment of their choice' and discuss his future when he was around seven.

The royal expert revealed that the couple delayed telling their son until he was seven because of the negative impact that Prince William endured growing up knowing he'd one day be King.

The author explained the delay was linked to, "William’s unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start."
