Sophie Wessex has proven once again she's the Royal Family's fashion underdog with her latest outfit—a gorgeous Victoria Beckham dress paired with stunning accessories.
The Countess and her husband, Prince Edward, had all eyes on them as they attended the glamorous Chelsea Flower Show for the launch of its six-day-long horticultural exhibition on Monday. The historic event, which normally takes place in May, was rescheduled for September due to coronavirus restrictions.
Princess Anne, the second eldest of the Queen’s children, was also present at the horticulture show. Unfortunately, the Queen is expected to miss the unique event for the first time since 2005. She is currently enjoying a vacation in her Scottish residence of Balmoral Castle and it has yet to be confirmed when she will return to Buckingham Palace.
Luckily, there was still plenty of royal excitement at yesterday’s event. Fans were quick to fawn over Sophie’s coloring blocking outfit—a daring change-up from the floral patterns she has worn to the Chelsea Flower Show in the past.
With autumn fast approaching, the Countess went for a seasonal hybrid ensemble complete with a Victoria Beckham white knitted dress and a long navy blazer. The midi-length gown, which featured blouson slitted sleeves and ribbed trims, was made with a blend of cotton and viscous—the perfect materials for keeping warm on a mild September day without overheating.
She teamed the nautical look with sensible wooden wedges by Penelope Chilvers and a tan Sophie Hambsug handbag, adding a sprinkle of drama with a pair of red drop earrings and a chunky necklace penchant. Her effortless outfit emulated many of Kate Middleton’s dresses, which are often styled with statement pieces for a classic yet unique finish.

A crew neckline and fit-and-flare shape make this midi dress ideal for everyday, while the delicate pointelle detail on the front darts, back bodice, sleeves and skirt lend a feminine, 90s-inspired touch. Blouson sleeves with a peekaboo slit and ribbed trims offer a slightly playful finish.
This isn’t the first time Sophie opted for a Posh Spice designer piece.
