Sophie Wessex and Prince Edward will be joined by a whopping 3,000 guests at Windsor Castle on Sunday for a potentially record-breaking Platinum Jubilee lunch.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will welcome about 3,000 guests to Windsor Castle on Sunday, 5 June, for a communal lunch in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

The al-fresco event will take place on the Long Walk, the 2.6-mile avenue that connects the main house with the Copper Horse statue in Windsor Great Park, and is expected to be one of the most extravagant banquets to mark the historic bank holiday weekend.

It's understood that organizers plan to set up 488 tables for attendees, most of whom are Berkshire residents, in the hope of breaking the record for the world's longest dinner table.

The exciting news comes as showers are predicted for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend ‒ a weather update that could put a serious damper on the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty's reign.

Rain or sunshine, the Big Lunch at Windsor is all set to go ahead ‒ and it looks like there are some serious treats in store for guests.

Attendees will be able to purchase yummy bites from various eateries on-site, including vegan, BBQ, and Mexican food stalls, as well as refreshing alcoholic beverages from the Windsor & Eton Brewery. There will also be plenty of live family entertainment, with balloon modelers and stilt walkers booked to keep all the kids amused throughout the afternoon.

The Big Lunch kicks off at 11.30 am and is expected to wrap up around 6.30 pm.

How do I attend Windsor's Jubilee lunch on the Long Walk?

While many of the guests of the Jubilee Lunch at Windsor Castle hail from the Queen's local area, the event isn't exclusive to Berkshire folks.

The tables are now fully booked up but royal fans from across the UK and beyond are still welcome to attend and enjoy a picnic on the Long Walk's ample grounds.
