Duchess of York sends sweet tribute to Boris Johnson as he remains in intensive care

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has sent a message of support to the Prime Minister after it was revealed he'd been taken to intensive care as he continues to battle coronavirus.

On Sunday night it was revealed that Boris Johnson's battle with coronavirus had worsened and he had been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at St Thomas' Hospital in London.

Among those wishing the Prime Minister a speedy recovery is Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York - who has shared a poignant message on Instagram, echoing the sentiment of his own speech ahead of contracting coronavirus.

Alongside a picture of Boris, Fergie wrote, "Boris we send the strong words you spoke about in your speech and quote these lines... 'I, and we, will never take your support for granted. I will make it my mission to work night and day, to work flat-out to prove you right in voting for me.'

"We repeat your words back to you with gratitude for your strength for us all and send you healing. Thankfully know, the @nhsengland is the best to help you and so many other people through, who are fighting Covid-19 @borisjohnsonuk @nhsenglandldn #coronavirus."

At the same time the Queen's speech was broadcast on television on Sunday night, Boris was being taken to hospital as a "precautionary measure after his coronavirus symptoms persisted.

In a statement released by Downing Street, "On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests.

"This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus."

Despite being in "good spirits" on Monday, the situation quickly escalated and on Monday it was confirmed Boris had been moved to the Intensive Care Unit.

A No 10 statement read, "The prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas' Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

"Over the course of [Monday] afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital."
