The Queen’s favorite hobby celebrated in sweet unseen photo to mark her 95th birthday
Her Majesty couldn't look more relaxed in this down-to-earth photo
In honor of the Queen’s momentous 95th birthday, the Royal Windsor Horse Show has shared a never-before-seen photo of the monarch—and it pays tribute to one of her favorite hobbies.
- The Queen turned 95 on April 21, just days after Prince Philip was laid to rest.
- In honor of this momentous day, the Royal Windsor Horse Show shared a down-to-earth unseen snap of Her Majesty.
- In other royal news, Prince Philip asked an 80-year-old photographer to hide in a fake pillar at his funeral for this surprising reason.
The Queen marked her landmark 95th birthday this week with a poignant message of thanks for the “support and kindness” she and the Royal Family have received in the aftermath of Prince Philip’s death. Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, it’s understood that plans to celebrate the Queen’s birthday were suspended as she grieves for her husband of 73 years.
However, it’s likely Prince Philip himself would have approved of the touching tribute posted by the Royal Windsor Horse Show in honor of the Queen’s special day. Prince Philip’s passion for carriage driving helped him break down barriers and it’s a hobby that his granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor has been inspired to take up. Meanwhile, the Queen is a keen horse rider and the Royal Windsor Horse Show is one of her favored summer events to attend.
After being adapted into a virtual event last year due to the pandemic, it has recently been confirmed that the show will return as normal this year, no doubt delighting the Queen, who has often watched her own horses compete.
Now the official Royal Windsor Horse Show Twitter has celebrated her 95th birthday with a very down-to-earth photo of Her Majesty that really showcases her love of horses.

He is believed to have kept a particularly romantic birthday tradition going during their marriage, causing more heartache for the Queen as she will never again get to enjoy this special gesture.
The day after her birthday marks the ending of the Queen’s period of royal mourning on April 22. Following this, she will return to royal duties, although it’s reported that the Royal Family will “step up” to support her at future engagements.
The Queen will surely be needing the support of her loved ones more than ever at this difficult time.
