Queen Elizabeth II has reached out with a heartfelt message after one of her royal acquaintances passed away.
In a press release from Buckingham Palace, the monarch shared a heartwarming message in honour of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Emir or Kuwait.
‘I was saddened to hear of the death of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah,’ the Queen wrote in her statement. ‘Your distinguished brother devoted his life to the service of the State of Kuwait and especially its relationship with its allies and friends. He will be long remembered by all who work for regional stability, understanding between nations and between faiths, and for the humanitarian cause.’
Speaking of her friendship with the late royal, the monarch continued, ‘I have deeply valued his friendship towards the United Kingdom, and his memorable State Visit in November 2012.
‘I offer Your Highness my sincere condolences. I offer also my sympathy to the people of Kuwait. May the long history of close companionship between our two families continue.’
The statement was also shared on the Royal Family’s Instagram page, alongside a sweet photo of the two Heads of State smiling and laughing together back in 2012 when the late Emir made a visit over to the UK.
