How the Queen broke royal protocol for Meghan Markle revealed
Queen Elizabeth went against royal tradition back in 2017 to welcome Meghan Markle into the royal family, according to an expert.
- The Queen invited Meghan to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the Royal Family in 2017.
- This broke royal protocol because Meghan and Harry were not yet married.
- This follows royal news that Prince Harry felt particularly down on a special day.
The Duchess of Sussex joined Harry and his family for Christmas five months before they tied the knot.
Royal expert Phil Dampier has now revealed how Queen Elizabeth will be 'betrayed' over the release of bombshell court documents, where Meghan claims she felt 'unprotected' by the Royal Family.
Why does Queen Elizabeth feel betrayed?
He said, "I think the Queen is going to be absolutely devastated by this.
"She’ll cope with it but she will feel desperately betrayed."
He added, “She broke with protocol to invite Meghan to Christmas at Sandringham before they were married, and the couple ended up with a beautiful multi-million pound home in the middle of Windsor Great Park.
“Some will be wondering: what more did they want?”

Meghan joined the Royal Family for their traditional Christmas Day church service in 2017, just one month after she and Harry announced their engagement.
They later married in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel and moved into Frogmore cottage after a £2.4million renovation.
In January, the couple shocked the world when they announced plans to step back as senior royals on Instagram.
Meghan and Harry are thought to have made the statement without telling the Queen first.
The Sussexes are now living in Los Angeles with their one-year-old son Archie after a brief stint in Canada.
They are now preparing to launch their new global charitable body, Archewell, after being made to drop their Sussex Royal brand when they stepped down from royal duties.
