Queen Camilla’s royal cypher wins fans’ hearts as it’s dubbed ‘better than the King’s one’
Queen Camilla's royal cypher has been unveiled and it will soon be seen at the Field of Remembrance on a cross laid by the senior royal
Queen Camilla’s royal cypher has won fans’ hearts as it’s been dubbed ‘better than the King’s one’ by several ahead of its first official usage this month.
- The Queen Consort’s royal cypher has been released and it features the letters ‘C’ and ‘R’ under a crown with a beautiful swirling font.
- Fans have been delighted by the new design with some seeming to prefer hers to that of King Charles.
- This royal news comes as Prince William said 'disappointment is a part of life' in an honest chat about his mental health.
In September King Charles’ royal cypher was unveiled, just a few weeks after he ascended to the throne and it left many fans a little confused over its mysterious “R” letter. Depicting an entwined ‘C’ and ‘R’ representing ‘Charles’ and ‘Rex’ (Latin for King), the cypher was personally chosen by His Majesty from 10 different designs.
Now Queen Camilla’s royal cypher has been released and if the initial reactions are anything to go by, it’s quite the hit with fans. So much so, that some have even suggested that it’s “better” than that of the King!

Similarly to King Charles’ cypher, Queen Camilla’s royal cypher features her initial ‘C’ and ‘R’ - in this case representing ‘Regina’, Latin for Queen. The Queen Consort’s monogram is elegantly swirling and appears under a crown. It was designed by a calligrapher on the Faculty and Academic Board of The Royal Drawing School, Professor Ewan Clayton, in collaboration with Timothy Noad, Herald Painter and Scrivener at The College of Arms.
And we can expect to see this beautiful cypher in action within a matter of days. Not only will Queen Camilla’s cypher be used on cards, gifts and letterheads, but according to the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English, it will also reportedly feature on a cross that the senior royal will lay at the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on November 10.
Rebecca and GB News’ Royal Reporter Cameron Walker both shared the first images of Queen Camilla’s royal cypher on social media and fans were quick to share their thoughts. Several even expressed their belief that this new monogram could even be “better” than that of King Charles!
One fan compared Queen Camilla’s royal cypher to that of King Charles - and it seems like hers has won their heart as they wrote, “I like it, prefer it to KC's”.

“Wonderful, even better than the King's one maybe”, someone else pondered, as another fan replied, “True. It's really beautiful”.
A fourth fan echoed this sentiment, declaring admiringly, “I love Queen Camilla. This is beautiful”.
“I love it so much!” a fellow fan shared.
The release of Queen Camilla’s royal cypher comes just a few days after it was confirmed by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that there would be an extra bank holiday for King Charles’ coronation. Despite previous speculation about a possible summer date, King Charles’ coronation day will be May 8 which is also his grandson Archie Mountbatten-Windsor’s birthday.
The coronation will see not only His Majesty crowned at Westminster Abbey, but Queen Camilla crowned too during the service. Hers is reportedly set to be a similar, but simpler ceremony to that of her husband.
