The lovely way Princess Anne spent her 69th birthday yesterday

Princess Anne

Yesterday, Princess Anne turned 69 and received many birthday wishes from the Royal Family and fans.

The Princess Royal is known for being one of the hardest working royals, as she is a patron of over 200 organisations and attends hundreds of royal engagements each year, much to the delight of royal fans.

But it seems that she made sure to take time off for her birthday yesterday, as according to the Court Circular she has been off-duty since the beginning of August. Yesterday, her diary simply read: 'Today is the Anniversary of the Birthday of The Princess Royal."

Of course, it's not known exactly how Princess Anne chose to celebrate her special day, but it's lovely to see her taking the time off to do it.

In 2017, the Queen's only daughter attended 400 royal engagements in the UK, and over 80 in other countries, making her officially the most busy member of the Royal Family that year.

Many people took to social media to wish the Princess Royal a happy birthday, including the official Royal Family Twitter account who shared this lovely photo of Princess Anne alongside her mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Chef Consultant and Food Architect Damian Wawrzyniak commented on the post, writing, 'Happy Birthday to The Princess Royal 👑 it was pleasure to cook for you and discuss all food matters this year in Huntingdon.'

Clarence House also shared an Instagram post in honour of Princess Anne’s special day, which included an adorable photo of her and her big brother Prince Charles giggling away.

The caption read, 'Wishing The Princess Royal a very Happy Birthday 🎉 #HappyBirthdayHRH'.

On the post, one royal fan wrote, 'Happy Birthday to The Princess Royal! This is a great picture of brother and sister. 😊'

The Duke of York also wished his sister a happy birthday on Instagram, sharing a series of lovely photos from across the years, including the pair riding together which is one of the Princess’ favourite activities as a devoted equestrian.

The caption reads: “Wishing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal a very Happy Birthday!#happybirthdayhrh”

We hope she’s enjoyed her birthday, and her well-earned break!
