William and Kate have shared a photo of Meghan Markle in a 40th birthday tribute to the Duchess of Sussex.

The photo, shared on both the Kensington Royal Instagram and Twitter accounts, shows Meghan beaming with happiness while sitting on a beach.

Prince William and Duchess Kate are well known for their public birthday tributes so this latest one is a hopeful sign that the family is mending bridges.

The shot in question, from Meghan and Harry's tour of Oceania in 2018, was taken on Bondi Beach in Australia. At the time, Oct 2018, Meghan was expecting her first child—Archie, now two years old—and is dressed in a simple, elegant striped strappy dress. The look might not have made Meghan Markle's 40 most stylish moments, but she's really had too many fab looks to count!

Of course, it wouldn't be a trip to the beach without a Hawaiian lei; which she was gifted when she hit Sydney's most famous spot for sun, sand, sea and surfing.

William and Kate choosing to make such a positive public gesture is a sign that things are moving in a positive direction after what's been a tumultuous few years for the firm.

In the last 12 months, however, William and Harry have been united in grief for both the loss of their grandfather Prince Philip and the revelations following an investigation into the infamous Princess Diana interview with Martin Bashir.

An inquiry into the interview, which left Prince William haunted by question of ‘what if’ over Princess Diana after ‘blistering’ statement to BBC, found that journalist Martin Bashir used deception to secure the interview and then lied to his BBC managers.

The royal brothers shared personal statements both ahead of and after the inquiry and also showed a united front as a Princess Diana statue was unveiled at Kensington Palace.

Hopefully, moving forward, the family will carry on in their united front and repairing their relationships.
