Prince Edward receives lovely birthday surprise alongside wife Countess Sophie Wessex
Prince Edward celebrated his 56th birthday yesterday, and he received a lovely surprise while out with wife Sophie.

- And while making the visit alongside wife Countess Sophie Wessex, the Earl of Wessex was presented with a sweet surprise.

Prince Edward celebrated his 56th birthday yesterday alongside his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex – and the royal looked like he had a lovely day.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex spent the day visiting marmalade and preserves manufacturer Tiptree Wilkin & Sons, where they contributed to making the famous Tiptree marmalade.
‘At Wilkin and Sons, @tiptreephotos, The Earl and Countess learned about farm to factory production 🚜🍊,’ the Royal Family wrote in an Instagram post.
‘Wilkins have farmed in Tiptree for almost 300 years: the estate produces unusual fruits such as medlars, mulberries and quince – as well as strawberries, raspberries, cherries and plums.
‘These fruits are then made into preserves and jams in the factory’.
The Royal Family also shared a video of the Countess of Wessex peeling oranges to go in the brand’s iconic marmalade.

And it turns out that Prince Edward was met with a lovely surprise as the royal couple visited the manufacturer’s bakery, where the Earl was met with a lavish birthday cake.
Sharing a video of the Prince cutting his huge birthday cake, the Royal Family wrote on Twitter, ‘🎂🎈The Earl cuts a birthday cake made by Darren from the @tiptree jam bakery’.
The clip shows the Earl slicing the lovely fondant-covered cake straight down the middle finishing by breaking off a tiny slice, while the Countess of Wessex stands by his side with a happy smile on her face.
We hope the Earl had a lovely birthday and enjoyed his bakery-fresh celebration cake!
