Prince Charles has opened up for the first time since his father Prince Philip left King Edward VII’s Hospital yesterday. The Duke of Edinburgh was first admitted to the hospital on February 16 as a “precautionary measure” after “feeling unwell”. Following this, he was later transferred to St Bartholomew’s Hospital and is understood to have had a “successful procedure" for a "pre-existing heart condition”.
Prince Philip then returned to King Edward VII’s on March 5 where he recuperated, returning to Windsor Castle yesterday morning. After leaving the hospital after what is believed to be his longest-ever stay, he shared a statement thanking the medical staff who looked after him as well as everyone who had sent “good wishes”.
Throughout his time in hospital, it’s been suggested that the Queen leaned on her loved ones for support, including her eldest son Prince Charles. He was reportedly her “pillar of strength” during this time and the prince also visited his father in hospital in “exceptional circumstances” during lockdown.

A royal source also reportedly told PEOPLE that Prince Philip is “in good spirits” as he reunited with his wife of over seven decades yesterday. While her husband was in hospital, the Queen continued to carry out her royal duties, although she could be seen to send a message to Philip by wearing her sentimental engagement brooch during a recent video call.
The devoted couple will no doubt have been delighted to see each other after this time apart.
