It wasn't long before Princess Eugenie shared the first picture of her son - a glimpse of him holding on to her and Jack's hands.
She simply captioned the black and white shot with blue hearts.
Her Majesty the Queen is "delighted" with the news, but will no doubt have to wait to meet the tiny tot given the current covid-19 climate. Princess Eugenie's son may even miss out on this royal tradition.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed, "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news.
"This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
Princess Eugenie's charity that she co-founded with friend Julia de Boinville, the Anti-Slavery Collective, congratulated the new mum on Twitter. Her charity said, "On behalf of everyone at The Anti-Slavery Collective, we want to say congratulations to our co-founder, HRH Princess Eugenie, on the birth of her baby."
Princess Eugenie's aunt and uncle, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, also sent their warm wishes to the new mother. The Clarence House Instagram account posted an image of Princess Eugenie and her husband on their wedding day as they celebrated the news.
