The Duchess of Sussex has been secretly helping animal charity, Mayhew, during lockdown.

Meghan Markle has been quietly working with an animal charity close to her heart during the coronavirus crisis.

Despite stepping down from royal duties back in March, the Duchess was permitted to keep her patronages – including animal charity, Mayhew.

Sarah Hastelow, the charity’s media officer, revealed Meghan is working closely with the team as they “desperately” struggle for funding amid the pandemic.

She said Meghan, 38, had “been in touch” during the crisis, before telling Newsweek she couldn’t give much further detail.

“She's been such a champion of animals and animal welfare. It's always been a passion of hers,” the charity’s media officer explained.

Confirming that Meghan has remained in close contact with her patronage, a source from the Sussexes’ team revealed, “The Duchess is in touch and working with Mayhew at this time.”

Mayhew has found itself struggling in recent months as the charity heavily relies on public fundraising events – all of which have been put on hold due to the pandemic.

Meghan has always been an avid animal lover, so it’s no surprise she’s doing her bit to help the UK-based animal welfare charity, despite now being based in California.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been living in a luxury Hollywood hideout since moving to California in March.

According to DailyMail.com the couple are staying in a $18 million mansion owned by Hollywood star, Tyler Perry.

The luxury 22-acre property is located in exclusive and highly sought after Beverly Ridge gated community and comes with its own security team.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are staying in the 8-bedroom, 12-bathroom villa with their son Archie, who turned one this month.

A source revealed, “Beverly Ridge has its own guarded gate and Tyler’s property has a gate of its own which is watched by their security team.

“Beverly Ridge is an excellent place to keep out of view. The neighbours are mostly old money and mega rich business types rather than show business gossips.”
