Meghan Markle makes a bold fashion statement that pays tribute to Princess Diana

Meghan Markle attended the Global Citizen concert with her husband Prince Harry and made a fashion statement that paid tribute to Princess Diana.

Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry, attended an American music event in Central Park called Global Citizen. The event strives to combat climate change, but while the couple were on stage, they also took the time to talk about another cause they care about, vaccine equality.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry looked loved-up in cute photos that were snapped at the event and the couple were celebrated by cheering crowds, who were delighted the royal couple had attended.

While at the event, Meghan wore a white Valentino shift dress. The Duchess complemented her monochrome look by pairing the dress with a long black coat and a personalized black Dior handbag.

The Duchess' Dior handbag paid a sweet tribute to Prince Harry's mother Princess Diana. According to the FT, Dior named their iconic 'Lady Dior' handbag after the equally iconic Lady Diana. 

Reportedly the bag was unnamed when it was first created in 1995 and given to the Princess. Diana quickly took a liking to the bag and was spotted on various occasions with it. In 1996, Dior decided to name the bag after Diana and the bag has been a staple Dior piece ever since.

Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri told the FT, “[The Lady Dior] became iconic thanks to its association with a role model beloved by so many.” 

One eagle-eyed fan also noticed that Meghan's Dior handbag was customized with the letters DSSOS. This is likely in tribute to Meghan's royal title, The Duchess of Sussex.
