Meghan Markle forced to wait another six months to relaunch blog after trademark rejection
The Duchess of Sussex's application to trademark the name of her old blog, The Tig, has been rejected
Meghan Markle's plans to relaunch her lifestyle blog, The Tig, have been delayed following a failed trademark application.

Meghan Markle has been forced to halt plans to reactivate her old lifestyle website, after her application to trademark its name was rejected.
The Duchess of Sussex famously launched a blog called The Tig in 2014, in which she shared candid journal entries and advice on everything from health hacks to fashion tips. The feel-good resource quickly built up a legion of adoring fans, many of whom regularly consulted the page for snippets on Meghan Markle's diet, updates on her latest hobbies, and developments in her Hollywood career.
The Tig was deleted, however, shortly before the Suits star became engaged to Prince Harry. It's understood that both the Duchess and the Royal Family were concerned that the site would only fuel media scrutiny of the couple ahead of their May 2018 wedding. The site disappeared completely in 2017, leaving its loyal readership with just archived content to get their Meghan fix.
In January of this year, speculation began brewing that the Duchess was hoping to resurrect the defunct blog five years after its shutdown. Los Angeles attorney Majorie Witter Norman even filed an application to trademark the 'The Tig' for her royal client in July 2021, according to legal records.
Unfortunately, it looks like Meghan's wishes to reclaim her site, which was reportedly named after her favorite wine, Tignanello, aren't about to be granted any time soon.
According to the Daily Mail's Richard Eden, the Duchess has been informed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that she will have to wait six months to seek ownership of the trademark, after failing to sign the initial application. The 40-year-old was also told that her description of the site was 'too broad'.

The disappointing news comes shortly after a US lawyer revealed how Meghan Markle could successfully trademark the word 'archetypes' for her upcoming Spotify podcast on society's treatment of women.
