Fans of The Crown have often wondered whether the modern royals we know today will feature in the beloved Netflix show about the Royal Family.
Well, fans need to wonder no longer! It has been revealed that Kate Middleton is the next royal figure to feature in the Netflix show as an insider revealed that the show plans to touch on the early stages of Prince William and Kate Middleton's romance.
A source told The Sun, "Having the Duchess of Cambridge starring is an easy win for The Crown, as the creators know it will get more people watching."
"Particularly as it will show her relationship with William just as their romance starts to blossom when they were both students."
However, the TV insider also revealed that although producers are starting to look for an actress to play Kate, they will not cast the part unless they find the right person to play the role.
"But since she’s not necessarily a crucial part of the storyline, Kate’s presence is essentially a bonus, they’ll only cast someone if they can find the right candidate," added the source.

The Crown Season 5 is set to be released in November 2022 and will focus on the Royal Family during the 1990s. Dominic West will be portraying Prince Charles, while Elizabeth Debicki will portray Princess Diana.
Prince William will be portrayed by Dominic's son Senan West in Season 5, but already casting directors at Netflix are hunting for an older actor to play both Prince Harry and Prince William.
Netflix said that they were looking for actors with a 'strong physical resemblence' and said that shooting was set to begin in August 2022.

There are rumors that The Crown won’t continue past season 6, but this has yet to be confirmed by the showrunners. It is unclear when exactly season 6 will be released but if shooting is set for late this summer, it can be presumed that it will soon be revealed if an actress to play Kate Middleton has indeed been cast.
