Prince William and Kate Middleton continued their mini tour of Scotland with a pitstop on the island of Orkney. While opening a hospital in Kirkwall, the Duchess of Cambridge stunned in a gorgeous tartan scarf, which holds a special meaning.

  • During her first official visit to Orkney, Kate Middleton paired her camel coat with a sentimental scarf.
  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently touring Scotland, making stops at various locations that coincide with their humanitarian efforts.
  • In other royal news, Meghan Markle's skincare secrets have been revealed and you'll want to take notes.

Whatever the occasion, the Duchess of Cambridge's impeccable and impactful outfit choices never go unnoticed. No matter the outfit selection, Kate Middleton's dresses, jewelry, and outerwear all look glamorous and are likely to sell out quickly.

But what's perhaps even more lovable than her great sense of style is her dedication; there is often a special significance behind her sartorial choices.

While opening Orkney's new Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall and greeting National Health Service staff, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a flawless Massimo Dutti coat (you can copy the style with one of these great camel coats) and topped it off with with a scarf in the Strathearn tartan.

This subtle but meaningful choice is a nod to her and Prince William's Scottish titles, the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, which were a gift from the Queen upon their nuptials. As another fitting tribute, the Duchess also wore a pair of earrings by Scottish jeweler Hamilton and Inches.

While in Scotland, Kate also learned more about the efforts at Balfour Hospital that ensure healthcare for those who are not residing on the Scottish mainland. She and Prince William followed up with a visit to the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) to discuss climate change and the U.K.'s green recovery.

During the tour, the royally obsessed have caught glimpses of the sweet way Prince William supports Kate Middleton and sneaks in humorous quips. While meeting with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, Duchess Kate got to try her hand at DJ-ing.

In her husband's opinion, her efforts on the soundboard were... less than stellar. "Can rule out a music career," he captioned on Instagram. "Keep up the incredible work Scottish Violence Reduction Unit and please do delete that music…"

Well, what Kate may lack in music ability she surely makes up for in style and philanthropy!

We can't wait to see what the Duchess will wear for her next official appearance.
