The Queen is celebrating her 96th birthday today with a number of her friends and family in Norfolk as they celebrate in one of the Her Majesty's most beloved country estates.

It has been revealed by the Royal Family that the Queen will be celebrating her birthday at her Sandringham Estate.

A video from the Royal Family's official Youtube channel revealed, "She is marking the special occasion at Sandringham, joined by family and friends."

It is unclear exactly which members of the Royal Family will be in attendance at this event but it is thought that friends such as the Queen’s trusted lady-in-waiting Lady Susan Hussey, and some of the Queen's children and the Queen's great-grandchildren will be in attendance.

As today is a school day it is unlikely that many of the Queen's great-grandchildren will be able to make it as many of them are still in primary school and nursery.

Sandringham House is located in Norfolk and has been a particularly significant home for Her Majesty who spent a large amount of time during her childhood at this home and still celebrates Christmas at this location every year.

The video also revealed, that although the Queen's official birthday is celebrated in June, "April 21 is Her Majesty's actual birthdate, with more low key celebrations." This included a variety of official tributes across the UK.

The Coldstream Guards played 'Happy Birthday' during the Changing of the Guard at Windsor Castle to mark the Queen's 96th birthday.

There were also more celebrations near Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, the home of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. At Hyde Park, there was a 41-gun salute fired by The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, at noon on April 21.

Additionally, in celebration of the Queen's birthday, there have been a number of sweet tributes from various members of the Royal Family.

Prince Charles' heartfelt tribute to his mother the Queen showed the close relationship that the monarch has with her eldest son and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge also shared a sweet snap of themselves with the Queen and another image of the Queen surrounded by some of her great-grandchildren. The caption of the post read, "Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today! An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year."
