Prince Harry has candidly spoken about the night Meghan revealed she was going to take her own life in a heartbreaking confession.
The Duke of Sussex was speaking with Oprah Winfrey on their new Apple TV+ docuseries, The Me You Can't See, which shines a light on mental health struggles that can be taking place beneath the surface.
On the night in question, the couple was due to attend a premiere at the Royal Albert Hall. Prince Harry shared with Oprah during the episode that the public may recognize photographs from the night, where Harry can be seen holding his wife's hands tightly as they enter the historic London building together.
Meghan is pictured looking poised and smiling brightly throughout the evening, but it has since come to light that she was suffering a great deal of inner turmoil.
“What perhaps people don’t understand is, earlier that evening Meghan decided to share with me the suicidal thoughts and the practicalities of how she was going to end her life,” he revealed in the emotional interview.
The couple were living together at their London residence, Frogmore Cottage, at the time. Meghan was six months pregnant with her first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

Meghan revealed in a shocking tell-all interview with Oprah in March 2021 that her struggle with her place within 'The Firm' and treatment by the UK press left her feeling trapped, depressed, and, in her darkest moments, suicidal.
"I just didn't want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember how [Harry] just cradled me," she said during the interview.

“The scariest thing for her was her clarity of thought," Harry continues in The Me You Can't See docuseries. "She hadn’t lost it, she wasn’t crazy, she wasn’t self-medicating be it through pills or through alcohol, she was absolutely sober. She was completely sane, yet in the quiet of night, these thoughts woke her up.
“The thing that stopped her from seeing it through was how unfair it would be on me after everything that had happened to my mum and to now be put into a position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside of her, our baby.”
The couple have since relocated to the US with Archie and Meghan is now expecting her second child.
