The Duchess of Cornwall prepared a lovely festive surprise for children at Clarence House and royal fans are loving it
So sweet!
The Duchess of Cornwall has been very busy lately, but she still found time to make a few children’s festive period extra special.
- Duchess Camilla invited children supported by Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity to help decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House.
- After the very festive activity, the fun wasn’t over as the Duchess surprised the children with two ‘special visitors’.
- This follows royal news that Prince Charles had to break protocol and walk behind his wife for a very important reason.
Duchess Camilla has been very busy with royal events recently, especially after returning from the royal tour to New Zealand, where she was alongside with Prince Charles last month.
This week it was time to get little ones into Clarence House for some festive help in decorating the tree, and we can see they did a wonderful job.
Alongside snaps and videos of the occasion shared on the official Instagram page, they wrote in the caption, ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Clarence House… 🎄❄️
‘Today, The Duchess of Cornwall invited children supported by @helenanddouglashouse and @roalddahlcharity to decorate the Christmas tree.
‘Helen & Douglas House care for terminally ill children and their families in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties through medical, emotional and practical support.
‘Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity supports a network of more than 70 Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses across the UK, who provide expert help and support to children suffering from chronic and underfunded conditions.

‘Her Royal Highness is Patron of both charities.
‘Alongside The Duchess, the children were surprised by special guest Captain Ross of the Welsh Guards, who helped them to decorate the tree. 💂🏼.’
The guests were treated to a lunch of sausages and mash, and Her Royal Highness said after, “I want to thank all of you - the parents, the nurses, the carers and most of all these wonderful children. I know sometimes it is probably not easy, but to see [the children] all here today looking so happy is a real treat for me.”
But after the main event, the children got another surprise when the Duchess told them, “I think everybody should put on their coats and we’ll all trail along outside to see if we can find some more friends waiting for us…” 🦌
Outside they had two extra special visitors, reindeer Dancer and Blitzen, in the Clarence House Garden – how sweet!
Royal fans loved the heartwarming moment, with one saying, ‘My favourite Royal event of the year. The Duchess is a genuinely kind & caring person.’
Another wrote, ‘It’s wonderful of the Duchess to do this.’
A third added, ‘These pictures bring tears to my eyes! It’s so sweet! Those poor babies!!!’
A fourth also commented, ‘That's the sweetest thing I've seen in a while. Clarence House rocks!’
