Can we just take a moment to appreciate Queen Camilla wearing King Charles' coat with a showstopping tiara?

Although Queen Camilla wearing King Charles' coat may seem like a totally revolutionary choice - she's actually worn it before

Queen Camilla wearing King Charles' coat may be an untraditional choice, but her tiara and jewelry are just what you'd expect from a Queen Consort. The royal couple stepped out for an important event and it's not the first big event she's chosen to wear her husband's coat to.

This year's Reception for the Diplomatic Corp is the first hosted by King Charles III and the first since 2019 following a two year hiatus due to the COIVD-19 pandemic.

Queen Camilla's banquet jewelry, which she wore during her first official banquet at Queen Consort, made an appearance again. However, it's not the only style choice she repeated at the first Diplomatic Corps Reception since King Charles’ reign began.

Marriage is said to be all about compromise and sharing and it appears that Camilla Queen Consort is wholly embracing the concept of 'what's yours is mine' by wearing her beloved husband's coat.

The coat in question is a navy embroidered coat, a traditional 'daqlah', that was gifted to the King by the Saudi designer, Yahya Al Bishri. A daqlah is a long robe, which is open at the front, that's traditionally worn over a thobe. The navy robe, with stunning silver embroidery, was presented as a gift to Prince Charles during a visit to Saudi Arabia in 1998.

Speaking to Arab News, after the Queen Consort sported his design at the party at the palace, the designer admitted he was 'shocked' to see Camilla in the coat but also absolutely thrilled. “As a Saudi fashion designer, I am so proud and happy," he said, "that international media focused on my design, talked about the outfit and appreciated what the Duchess of Cornwall was wearing.”

The coat matched perfectly with all the sparkle served up by the stylish royal, who paid homage again to her late mother-in-law by wearing the last tiara Queen Elizabeth II was photographed wearing. The tiara in question, her earrings, and incredible necklace were covered in the Royal Family's favorite precious stones - sapphires.

From Princess Anne's Empress Maria Feodorovna sapphire brooch, to Kate Middleton's engagement ring, which famously once belonged to Princess Diana - it's easy to wonder why sapphires are considered the most important gemstones of the Royal Family.

The Queen Consort wore the Belgian sapphire tiara along with a sapphire necklace and earrings at the event in Buckingham Palace. The necklace was among the late Queen's most treasured pieces as it was a wedding gift from her father King George VI, in 1947. Although previously, Camilla styled it as a choker - which seems to be her favored style of necklace - this time she wore it in its full splendor, with the pendant too.

The Prince and Princess of Wales also attended the event and needless to say, Kate Middleton’s red dress, by her favorite Jenny Packham, was utterly fabulous. Her jewelry, of course, also stunned with her tiara of choice - Princess Margaret’s Lotus Flower tiara - setting the whole look off.
