Rihanna transformed into marble for ‘histoRIH’ making Met Gala tribute
Anyone hoping for another show-stopping Rihanna Met Gala look was in for a major surprise this year...
Rihanna might not have made an appearance at the Met Gala 2022 but the new marble tribute is a truly “histoRIH” making moment for the star.
Each year the A-list celebrities descend upon the eye-catching event and the Met Gala best looks consistently leave us awe-struck. This year’s theme was Gilded Glamour, giving all attendees the opportunity to go all-out in whichever way they chose. But sadly for fans of the ever-glamorous Rihanna, this year did not see a repeat of the remarkable red carpet appearances that captivated them in the past.
Rihanna reportedly chose not to attend the Met Gala 2022 and it’s thought that this could be due to her pregnancy. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky will soon be welcoming their first child and the singer is in her third trimester.
However, despite not appearing in person, Rihanna was certainly honored beyond many people’s wildest dreams at the Met Gala.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a short video clip of one of her most epic transformations yet. In it, the pregnant star appeared to have been crafted into a marble statue in what could possibly be the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
As the video zooms in, the level of intricate detail is revealed, showcasing a stunning floral design running up her body and coming together to create the sense of a truly unique bodysuit and long, luxurious gloves.
Sharing the post with her thousands of followers, Rihanna declared, “shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that?” as she references this year’s theme for which the marble look couldn’t be more perfect.

Rihanna then went on to thank the museum and Vogue, “Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”.
It’s not known exactly whether this Rihanna marble look is a commissioned statue or the singer posing in some pretty iconic make-up for the video. Either way, people were seriously bowled over and were quick to praise Rihanna’s “histoRIH” making post.
“Making HistoRIH ❤️🔥😍❤️🔥”, one person stated excitedly as another wrote, “Nah this is HistoRIH 🔥🔥🔥🔥”.
“The Real Queen of Met Gala”, someone else responded admiringly.
Another agreed that this is one unforgettable tribute, commenting, “You deserve it ❤️❤️❤️look outstanding”.
This exciting and more-than-a-little intriguing post from Rihanna comes as she opened up earlier this year to Refinery29 about pregnancy has inspired her to be particularly bold when it comes to her style and embracing being “sexy”.
“Right now I’m really into pushing the idea of sexy. When women get pregnant, society tends to make it feel like you hide, hide your sexy, and that you’re not sexy right now [but] you’ll get back there and I don’t believe in that S***”, she said. “So I’m trying stuff that I might not have even had the confidence to try before I was pregnant. The strappiest, the thinnest, and the more cut-outs the better for me.”
The Rihanna Met Gala tribute definitely captures her wonderful confidence and is sure to keep people talking until the next star-studded annual event!
