Piers Morgan replaced by Ben Shephard after Good Morning Britain exit
Ben Shephard stood in for Piers Morgan on Monday's episode of Good Morning Britain following his dramatic resignation
Piers Morgan was replaced by Ben Shephard on Monday's episode of Good Morning Britain, following his abrupt departure from the popular breakfast show.
The former ITV presenter had his seat filled by longtime GMB staple Ben, who typically hosts the show alongside Susanna Reid on Thursdays and Fridays. It has yet to be confirmed who will be the permanent replacement for Piers, but the current favorite at the bookies is Lingo host Adil Ray.
Piers hit headlines last Monday after his offensive comments about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah landed him in hot water with both ITV bosses and viewers. The fiery media personality dismissed the Duchess of Sussex's claims that she felt suicidal during her first pregnancy, snapping, "I don't believe a word she said."
His remarks were met with instant backlash, with Ofcom receiving over 41,000 complaints by the following Tuesday. Meghan Markle also filed a formal complaint to ITV on Piers' statements, in which she reportedly voiced her concerns that they could negatively affect others who are struggling with their mental health.

Piers officially left the show after storming off set during a heated exchange with ITV weatherman Alex Beresford on Tuesday. Piers had taken issue with his fellow broadcaster's accusations that he continues to 'trash' Meghan, despite the fact she has never publicly addressed him, and promptly removed himself from the discussion in a huff. ITV confirmed that he was leaving the show later that day after he refused to apologize for his statements about Meghan.
Piers has since defended his comments, telling his social media followers, "Freedom is a speech is a hill I'm to die on." He has reportedly had multi-million dollar offers from US networks but has yet to disclose any information on his next move.
