Normal People author Sally Rooney is releasing a new book on the power of female friendship
Sally Rooney fans can't contain their excitement for her new upcoming book
Sally Rooney, the author of Normal People, has revealed that she will be publishing a new book this year titled Beautiful World, Where Are You, that will focus on female friendship.
Sally Rooney is the iconic author behind the Sunday Times Bestseller, Normal People. This novel was published in 2018 after the success of her 2017 debut book, Conversations with Friends. The success of both novels catapulted Sally Rooney into critical acclaim and commercial success as an author.
Normal People was a phenomenal success as a novel and then had a second life as a successful television adaptation in 2020. The novel was adapted into a 12-part series for Hulu and BBC Three. This adaptation, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, was another huge success as fans went wild for Marianne and Connell's love story as they grew from teenagers to adults.

The success of the show and the books have left fans wanting more. Fortunately, Rooney’s debut novel, Conversations with Friends, was picked up by Hulu. Head of Hulu originals, Beatrice Springborn, announced in 2020, “After bringing that to life in Normal People to an overwhelmingly positive response, we are honored to do the same with Conversations with Friends.”
Publishing house, Faber Books, announced the release of Rooney's new novel, Beautiful World, Where Are You, earlier this year. Fans are unbelievably excited for the new content from the Irish author, and the book is set to be released in early autumn on 7 September 2021.
The synopsis for the novel reads, "Alice, a novelist, meets Felix, who works in a warehouse, and asks him if he’d like to travel to Rome with her. In Dublin, her best friend Eileen is getting over a break-up and slips back into flirting with Simon, a man she has known since childhood."

The publishing house gave a brief synopsis of the new novel from Sally Rooney. They revealed on Twitter, “Alice, Felix, Eileen, and Simon are still young – but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?”
The publisher at Faber who acquired the novel, Alex Bowler, spoke excitedly about Sally's new novel. He described the novel as “a book of friendship and sex, art and faith, power and love. It absorbs you once again in the inner lives of characters with brilliant minds and aching hearts while marking the next creative leap from a singular writer. The book scintillates with intelligence, empathy, and, yes, beauty.”
The new novel, Beautiful World, Where Are You, has fans extremely excited. One fan wrote on the Twitter announcement, “who do I sell my soul to for a review copy?” Another fan commented, “A new Sally Rooney novel is precisely what this year needs.” Frankly, we agree with them - we can't wait!
