She is a teacher by trade and continues to keep this up when she becomes First Lady.

How old is Jill Biden?

Jill Biden was born Jill Tracy Jacobs on 3 June 1951, making her 69 years old.

She was born in Hammonton, New Jersey and is the eldest of five sisters.

As a child, Jill lived in Hatboro, Pennsylvania before moving to Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

Today, she lives in Greenville, Delaware with her husband, US president-elect Joe Biden.

When did she marry Joe Biden?

Jill married Joe Biden on 17 June 1977  at the Chapel at the United Nations in New York City.

Joe had actually proposed four times before she accepted, as she was wary of entering the public spotlight.

Four years before they married, Joe had also tragically lost his first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden and their young daughter, Naomi.

Jill was thought to be hesitant about raising his two young sons, who had survived the accident.

She said: "I couldn't have them [Joe's children] lose another mother. So I had to be 100% sure.'

However, she took on the challenge of family life and 44 years later, she and Joe are still happily married.

Jill Biden married Bill Stevenson in February 1970.

Bill was a former college football player and they got married when Jill was just 18 years old.

Four years later, they separated and by 1976 they were officially divorced.

A year later, she married Joe Biden.

What is Jill Biden’s doctorate?

Jill Biden has been a teacher for decades and has an impressive four degrees under her belt.

She first graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in 1975.

She then later studied for two master’s degrees, one from West Chester University, and another from Villanova University.

At the age of 55, she received a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in educational leadership from the University of Delaware.

During husband Joe's eight years serving as vice president, Jill was a full-time English professor at Northern Virginia Community College.

And she plans to continue teaching once she becomes First Lady. "If we get to the White House, I'm gonna continue to teach," she said.

"It's important, and I want people to value teachers and know their contributions, and lift up the profession."
