What is the John Lewis 2022 Christmas advert song and who sings it?
The John Lewis Christmas advert has just been launched and fans are obsessed - but who sings the song in this adorable ad?
Every year, fans eagerly await the release of the John Lewis Christmas advert, a festive treat that promises to warm hearts and even bring a tear to even the most Scroogiest of Scrooges.
The advert from the brand this year was yet another hit as John Lewis released the adorable advert 'The Beginner' which supported the charity, Action for Children. The advert is adorable, and if you've not already had the chance to see it, you've got to see it now!
The advert focuses on a man who is trying to learn how to skateboard, and despite being pretty terrible, doesn't give up until he's confident on the board. It is then revealed that the man has been learning how to skate so that he can have something in common with his foster child, Ellie, who he and his partner welcome into their home right around Christmas.
Fans loved this advert and many were quick to say that they had once again shed a tear because of the emotional themes in the advert. "Didn’t expect to be crying at 9am but here we are," said one commenter on Twitter. "That’s absolutely beautiful, and yes I am crying!!!!!, well done," said another.
"This is just perfect no gimmicks, no rock stars, no cuddly toys, just a reminder of what Christmas should be about. You nailed it again," said yet another fan.
Who sings the John Lewis 2022 Christmas advert song?
The song featured in the advert is All The Small Things, a cover of the Blink 182 song by US singer Mike Geier. The original song was initially released in 1999 on the album, Enema of the State and is a more punk rock version than the slowed version that appears in the advert.
Mike Geier is a singer but also has a clown alter ego named Puddles Pity Party. Mike is 6ft8in and the 58-year-old is known for his off-beat mix of comedy and mine while performing melancholy song covers. Mike is now among some of the great artists who have performed incredible songs for the John Lewis Christmas advert.

In the John Lewis advert 2021, the song selected was Lola Young’s cover of Together In Electric Dreams - originally by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder. In 2020, Celeste's version of Give A Little Love by Bay City Rollers was selected.
There are a number of other great tracks that stick out in fans' minds. The 2015 advert featured Aurora's version of Half the World Away, a song made famous by Oasis and hailed as one of the best songs by the band. This cover was slow and heartbreaking and fans loved how well it worked with the story in the advert. Also 2013's cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know, by Lily Allen, is another fantastic hit that fans still recall when thinking of some of the best hits to feature on a John Lewis Christmas advert.
