A new day, a new way of the internet convincing us to question our sanity. Today’s questionable antics? Showering with jeans on.

With the warmer weather coming, you might be digging around for those favorite pair of skinny jeans that have been tucked at the back of the wardrobe. If you find them a tad too tight but you’re not wanting to buy a new pair, TikTok (as always) has the solution. And yes, it involves bathing with your clothes on.

Introduced to TikTok by vintage reseller Lily Schoknecht, she explains how the trick was taught to her by her grandmother.

In a video that has since gone on to garner over four million views, Lily, who is a big fan of sustainability, explained that she bought a pair of second-hand jeans in a size 10, slightly too small for her.

Resigned to accepting this as a "tough loss," her grandmother had other ideas.

Lily says in the video, "She was like 'have you showered in them yet?' and I was like 'what? No, I haven't showered in my jeans!"

Her grandmother, she explains, then told her to "shower in them, wear them around the house, stretch them out a little bit, and then let them air dry and don't put them in the dryer again."

"This morning I put them on after air drying and like, they fit perfect," Lily continues.

Think this is your typical online nonsense? Not so fast! This idea has been around for some time, and even Levi's Vintage Clothing designer Paul O'Neill told GQ that he wears his new jeans in a bath to get the best fit.

Back in 2015, he told GQ, "First, I buy my jeans the correct size in the waist (rather than size down) and a little longer in length (one or two inches). Then, I'll wear them for a few days before climbing into a warm bath in them and soak for 20 minutes.”

"Once soaking is over, I slip out of the jeans and let them dry in the sun. This shrinks the jeans to your body shape."

@cicidoingthings also agreed that “it works” after trying it out for herself.

So, are you ready to hop in to the shower and try out this jean-ius hack?
