The adorable reason why J. Lo and Ben Affleck chose Georgia as location for second wedding
Turns out, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez celebrated their wedding on a property that Ben bought when the two got engaged the first time around
All eyes are still on Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, who just celebrated their wedding in Georgia with a weekend filled with outstanding festivities surrounded by loved ones.
Although Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck married at iconic location in Las Vegas last month in a pretty private affair, the couple invited friends and family over to Georgia for a weekend of festivities in celebration of their love just a few days ago.
The location of the wedding celebration was not random. In fact, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the 45-minute ceremony was hosted in front of 135 friends and family members on Ben's own 87-acre compound on Hampton Island Preserve, which he bought two decades ago.
"Ben bought the property 20 years ago when they were engaged the first time around," the source said to the outlet, referring to Ben and J.Lo's engagement back in 2002. As fans remember, the two split in 2004 but then got back together in April 2021 and got engaged for a second time about a year after rekindling their romance.

The source also said that the couple has, "a special connection [to the Georgia property] and [Ben's] 50th birthday was last week so it made sense to do it there and then."
The location was not the only Southern-like aspect of the party. In fact, guests were treated to a traditional family-style dinner on Friday. The night kicked off at home, where attendees enjoyed cocktails before being whisked off to the dinner in a barn via trolleys. Each guest also received a monogrammed gift bag filled with a candle and chocolates.
The main ceremony was officiated by celebrity life coach Jay Shetty on the back lawn of the house, which was decorated with a ton of white flowers and candles.

On Sunday, everyone was treated to a delicious brunch inspired by local southern cuisine.
As expected, both Ben and J. Lo's kids were part of the wedding party: 14-year-old twins Emme and Max, whom Jennifer shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and 16-year-old Violet, 13-year-old Seraphina and 10-year-old Samuel, Ben's children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

One important person was, however, missing throughout the weekend: Ben's brother Casey Affleck. According to Page Six, the actor said he had "other things" to attend throughout the weekend and therefore couldn't make it to celebrate.
However, Casey did take to Instagram to wish the couple a happy marriage.
"Good things are worth waiting for," Casey wrote in a caption to a throwback photo of himself with the couple back in 2002. "Here is to twists and turns, new beginnings and finding new reservoirs of old love."
To Jennifer in specific, he said, "Welcome to the family. Get ready for some real dysfunction. Kidding. I am kidding. Jen, you are a gem. We love you so much!!!"
We wish the newlyweds a long and happy life together!
