Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers split has fans wondering about her timeless engagement ring
The actor and the pro football player announced their engagement a year ago, marking the occasion with a timeless engagement ring
Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers have officially called off their engagement almost one year after the actor confirmed their then-upcoming nuptials while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On the episode, Shailene also gave the audience a glimpse of her engagement ring, a timeless accessory that her fans are still talking about.
The actor and the football quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, who was actually in the running to replace Alex Trebek as Jeopardy host, made headlines in February 2021, when word about their relationship got out. On February 6, 2021, Aaron thanked his "fiancée" after receiving an award at an NFL Honors event—and he indirectly set off a storm of media reports regarding the couple's engagement.
A few weeks later, Shailene herself confirmed the news while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
"Yes, we are engaged," Shailene, 30, said to Jimmy while promoting her movie The Mauritanian. "We are engaged but, for us, it's not new news. So it's kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.'"
Shailene appeared on the late night show via video cam, a fact that didn't stop audiences from noticing her simple but beautiful new rock. According to Brides, the ring featured a 4-5 carat solitaire round-cut diamond set on a platinum band that probably cost over $90,000. Who knows what will happen to it now that the duo has parted ways.
Speaking of the break up: neither the athlete nor the actor have released a statement but sources close to the couple explain that the two have simply grown apart and plan on remaining friends moving forward.
Following news about the breakup, fans took to Twitter to announce their despair—and joke about the bad luck that seems to be following Aaron's quest for rings. In fact, Aaron's team, the Green Bay Packers, fell short in their pursuit of a second Super Bowl ring earlier this year after the San Francisco 49ers beat them. Now, Aaron, 38, has got another ring to deal with.
