James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen Replacement Announced

Viewers of the Saturday morning cooking show were left gutted when TV favourite James Martin left Saturday Kitchen back last year.

The host had been on the show for a staggering 10 years, and was a huge hit with viewers. His decision to leave after decade, came when he witnessed a man unexpectedly collapse and die on stage in front of him. James revealed last month that the shocking experience made him evaluate his lifestyle and priorities - leading him to decide that he didn't want to dedicate so much of his life to work.

But after many months of popular chefs filling his shoes, a permanent replacement has finally been found - and it's Matt Tebbutt, fellow TV chef, who has been a guest presenter on the programme every five to six weeks since March. So he clearly knows what he's doing!

Other celebrity chefs, such as Tom Kerridge and Lorraine Pascale have stepped in, but none have proven more popular than Matt.

Fans on Twitter took to the social media site to praise the appointment, admitting that they think he is definitely the best man for the job.

However, Matt won't be presenting the show every single week. He'll front the programme every second show, and other celebrity chefs will fill in during the other weeks. Chefs like Michel Roux and John Torode will most likely present on the alternate weeks.

So what do we know about the new host?

1. You probably know him best from Channel Four's Food Unwrapped, which he presents alongside Jimmy Doherty and Kate Quilton.

2. He has also appeared on The Great British Menu, and the Great British Food Revival, so is no stranger to TV cooking programmes.

3. The past year wasn't his first rodeo on Saturday Kitchen. Did you know that he actually presented the programme in 2009, 2010 and 2011 too, whilst James Martin was away?

4. Matt trained at the renowned Leiths School of Food and Wine, where he eventually achieved his diploma. He's since trained with chefs such as Marco Pierre White.

5. And, despite his new heights of TV fame, he still keeps his hand in with the restaurant world, working as a consultant chef at The Hilton in Bournemouth.
