Ruth Langsford shares bittersweet family milestone celebration with her mum

Ruth Langsford has celebrated a bittersweet milestone with her mum.

The Loose Women presenter took to her Instagram page to share a sweet snap of her and her mother enjoying a lovely day out.

Sharing an adorable photo of the pair out at London’s Claridge’s hotel with her 740,000 followers, the This Morning host revealed that they were enjoying a lovely afternoon tea for her mum’s birthday.

‘Early celebration for Mum’s birthday,’ she wrote alongside the sweet photo, ‘afternoon tea at @claridgeshotel Posh sandwiches, scones & cream, Christmas trees and a choir singing carols....perfect!’.

However, the celebration was a bittersweet one for the pair as it marked the first big milestone for the two since Ruth’s sister Julia passed away earlier this year.

Back in June, the TV host took to her Instagram account to reveal the devastating news that her sister had lost her battle with a ‘very long illness’.

‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness,’ Ruth wrote alongside a sweet photo of the two sisters. ‘My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.

‘As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding’.

“Ruth is utterly heartbroken and devastated to have found out her beloved sister Julia has died,” a source told The Sun at the time.

“She adored Julia. They were very close – speaking all the time on the phone and enjoying girls’ days out.

“Julia had been unwell for quite some time but this has shaken Ruth to the core.

“Eammon and son Jack are comforting her at home but Ruth is in deep shock. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for the whole family.”

We’re so glad to see that Ruth and her mum were able to enjoy a happy day out together to celebrate the milestone.
