A PS I Love You film sequel is finally on the way
We've been waiting for this news for 13 years...
A PS I Love You sequel has been confirmed!
The Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler blockbuster hit screens way back in 2007 and since then had made it onto must-watch lists among the likes of the Notebook, Romeo + Juliet, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing and Titanic.
And when writer Cecilia Ahern penned a second novel, fans were desperate for another film.
And now it seems like we’re going to get a second instalment of the iconic watch.
The film sequel will be adapted from the second book release in the series, Postscript and according to Variety ahs been picked up by Alcon Entertainment.
What we know about the PS I Love You sequel
According to a publisher's synopsis of the Postscript novel, which was posted on Entertainment Weekly last year, the story starts seven years after Gerard Butler’s character Gerry's death.
It went on to explain that Hilary Swank’s character, Holly, 'is approached by a group calling themselves the PS, I Love You Club'.

Members of the club are 'inspired by hearing about her late husband Gerry’s letters' and want her assistance 'with their own parting messages for their loved ones to discover after they’re gone’.
‘The club wants Holly to help them,’ continues the synopsis. ‘Holly is sure of one thing – no way is she being dragged back to the grief she has left behind.
‘It’s taken seven years to reinvent herself, and she’s ready to move on with her life. But Holly comes to realize that when you love someone, there’s always one more thing to say’.
Will Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler return for the PS I Love You sequel?
Writer Cecilia Ahern spoke on Irish Radio last autumn saying that Hilary Swank would be keen to return for the second movie.
“There will be a Postscript movie,” she told host Ryan Tubridy, however this was before it had been picked up by a network. “One of the first people to email me when she heard the news was Hilary Swank.
“She was so excited, she wanted to read the book and she said ‘I would love to support you in any way, shape or form’. Then she read the book and she said ‘I want to make this movie’”.
So let’s hope we see the iconic couple make their return!
