When the Great British Bake Off moved to Channel 4 from the BBC earlier this year, the show also lost its beloved presenters Mel and Sue, who had fronted the show for the entire six years it had been on our screens.

The loveable pair decided not to follow the show as it moved channels, so were instead replaced as presenters by comedian Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig - who also joined Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith as judges.

And now Mel Giedroyc has spoken up about what she really thinks of her replacement Noel. Speaking on Lorraine, she admitted that she's worked previously with Noel, but that he gave no hint that he'd been offered the position.

"I worked with Noel Fielding recently. He kept that very very quiet!"

But she added that she's got nothing but confidence for the new host, saying, "I am extremely fond of Fielding.I love the idea of him being in the Bake Off tent.It makes me laugh. He is great."

"It'll be good to see how he deals with a croquembouche,"

When questioned by Lorraine about how it'll feel not to be on this year's show, Mel said "I'm thinking of them, wondering what's going on, who the bakers are.

"It will be different."

The presenter, who is now fronting a new BBC show called Pitch Battle, also admitted on the programme that she's glad to have left Bake Off for the sake of her waistline.

Host Lorraine also commented on the fact that Mel was looking so slim, saying "You're looking tiny!" Explaining her petite frame, Mel responded, "Well it's because I don'thave cakes in my life anymore, Lorraine. I'm not doing Bake Off anymore. I was eating cake solidly for five months of the year!

"So I had three birthday cakes last week for my birthday. One was full of custard!"

Asked about what advice she'd give to Noel about the dangers of a job like Bake Off for your weight, Mel joked "Noel, two words: Elasticated trousers"

Of course, viewers will be sad to have lost the dynamic duo of Mel and Sue on their screens - but fear not, as the pair do have plans to work together soon.

She said, "I saw the old girl last night. We have chats about doing stuff but we end up just larking around. We were singing 80s songs all night last night. We will do something soon though."

We can't wait to see the hilarious pair back together again!
