Lorraine leads praise for Cat Deeley as morning host replacement

Lorraine Kelly has sent a positive message to replacement host Cat Deeley who is currently presenting on ‘Lorraine’ during the Easter holidays

Cat Deeley took the reigns as the lead host of ‘Lorraine’ this week while Lorraine Kelly took time off over the Easter break. Cat told The Mirror, “Lorraine has kindly entrusted me with her show while she has a break over Easter. I’m so happy to be back at ITV for the coming week and looking forward to meeting some people I’ve wanted to ­interview for sometime and also welcoming some old friends on air.”

Cat has been presenting Lorraine since Monday 5th April 2021 and will continue to host all week. Following her first day in the role, Lorraine messaged Cat Deeley on Twitter and said, “Top job. A delight to watch xxxx.” To which Cat replied, "Thank you! Enjoyed every minute."

Cat has lived in the US for 14 years but first gained fame in the UK by presenting SMTV with comedy duo Ant and Dec. Now after more than a decade in the US, UK fans are extremely excited to see Cat back on their screens.

One fan commented on Twitter, “Brought back so many lovely memories seeing you presenting @catdeeley Have missed seeing you on our UK screens. You did brilliantly, as you always do.” Another fan said, “Was great to have you back on TV. My childhood was spent racing my sisters downstairs to get the best seat on the sofa to watch SMTV and CDUK.”

Dr. Amir Khan visited the show on Monday and took to Twitter to express his delight, “I literally grew up on SMTV and CD:UK so being in the studio with @catdeeley is like the coolest trip down memory lane!”

Louise Redknapp also visited the show and spoke about being reunited with her old friend. “Looking forward to catching up with my bestest ever ever friend @catdeeley this morning on @lorraine.Talking about the good old #smtvdays and my new book ‘You’ve Got This’ which is out now,” said Louise on Twitter.

Cat's hosting has been such a success that some fans are even calling for her to have a permanent position. One fan said on Twitter, "Cat Deeley is class. She needs her own show. Come on ITV, get on the case!"
